Tom McGhee made a start on producing this website during 1999 after searching in vain for well researched AND up to date comprehensive details on British Military Aircraft serial allocations. Numerous books are available which detail certain era's, batches, and aircraft types, but there was a surprising lack of more recent complete details.

Leave it Mick, it's already knackered enough!Mick Boulanger of the Wolverhampton Aviation Group was already well experienced in research in this field and had compiled copious details which were nearing publication. As well as the research side, Mick owns and is currently restoring a Jet Provost cockpit in the West Midlands, but here, his furtive appearance may be due to the Wessex centre console he is struggling to hide beneath his shirt!

Doug Pritchard has been associated with aircraft for most of his life and can be considered something of a Sea King expert. Currently working with the Met. Office, Doug can forecast hurricanes with the accuracy of Michael Fish, but at least his aviation research skills are not in doubt.

Although not undertaken lightly, this research task has at times proved daunting as normal work commitments and family lives have had to take at least some precedence! However, we hope we have managed to produce a reasonably comprehensive rundown within the constraints of the medium. Although every effort has been made to be as accurate as possible, with well over a hundred thousand items of information contained in the site we expect the odd error has crept in, and for that we apologise.

Hopefully these listings should give you a start for more in-depth research, and there are numerous publications available which should help you in this.

Regards, Mick Boulanger, Tom McGhee, and Doug Pritchard.
